Solid Gold
We offer 18k and 14k Solid Gold for the most exquisite pieces of our collections.
Please keep in mind KM Collectors, Solid Gold pieces will last your whole life and can be inherited, Solid gold will continue to be illustrious.
But always remember, jewelry needs care. Store your jewelry, especially delicate pieces or pieces with stones, in a clean, dry place, and gently clean it from time to time to maintain its beauty.
Gold Vermeil
Vermeil is a technique originating in the 19th century. Gold vermeil is a thick coating of gold (we use 24k) over solid sterling silver; the entire piece is composed of precious metals only. We believe it's the most luxurious option available at a reasonable price.
When it comes to plated gold, most companies use a thin layer of gold over a cheap metal such as brass. This is known as gold plated jewelry.
Gold vermeil is created using the gold plating technique but requires a thicker layer of gold than standard plating – in the case of vermeil pieces, the gold layer must be 2.5 microns thick. Due to its added thickness Gold vermeil is far more durable than gold plating – making it a more sustainable option as KM collectors can love their pieces longer.
Sterling Silver
Here at Kathe Mera Concept we use ethically sourced 925 sterling silver as the base metal for our gold vermeil pieces, and in all our silver jewelry. Sterling silver and the hallmark 925 represent the same thing – the mixture of silver and alloy, which is 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% copper or other alloys.
